Carey was a high fashion model, who measures at nearly 5'10" she was a favorite of American designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a renowned geoscientist and was awarded the title of Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey is a resident of across the globe because of his work. Following her graduation from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. It caught the attention of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. She lived in France for a short time, including Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned in New York for her college studies as well as to develop her career as a model. While modeling, she also attended New York University full-time to obtain a degree in literature. After graduation, in New York she began to learn about acting. She began her acting career by playing a minor role in 'Club Paradise which aired in 1986 alongside Robin Williams. She is a rock climber, skiing, and windsurfing.
