Awkwafina
Awkwafina has been described as an American performer and actor who made her name with clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a a boldly comic perspective. She then expanded into Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants and Korean immigrants. She also received the classical and jazz education later when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. While at school, she majored in journalism and women's studies in college even learning Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. She didn't start focusing on music until after she graduated. The track My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in 2012. It was eventually included in her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album featured other viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The latter track was connected to Awkwafina's NYC guide to travel in 2015. guide. She opted to pursue acting careers following the completion of her previous two ventures as a musician and author. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors to Storks. The actress made headlines in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
